THE RULES OF RIGHT FORM

OF VERBS

Rules-1 Simple Sentence এ দ্বিতীয় verb অর্থ্যাত্ Bracket এর  verb এর সাথে রহম যুক্ত  হয়ে Present Participle বা Gerund হয় অথবা Verb এর পূর্বে to বসিয়ে Infinitive Phrase করতে হয়। উদ্দেশ্যমূলক অর্থ বুঝালে ব্রাকেটের এর পূর্বে Verb to বসাতে হয়। যেমন :-

i) I saw the girl (walk) alone. Ans: I saw the girl walking alone.

ii) I do not want to (leave) my room. Ans: I do not want to leave my room.

iii) The girl went to market (buy) a book. Ans: The girl went to buy a book.

iv) She left the room (close) the door. Ans: She left the room closing the door.

(কোন verb এর শেষে Vowel ‘e’ এর পূর্বে Consonant থাকলে ing করার সময় Vowel ‘e’ বাদ দিতে হয়)

v) I saw the boys (swim). Ans: I saw the boys swimming.

(Consonant এর পূর্বে একটি Vowel থাকলে ing করার সময় Consonant টি সাধারণত Double হয়ে যায়)

Note: এখানে আমাদের জেনে রাখা উচিত Simple Sentence কাকে বলে। যে Sentence এ একটি মাত্র Subject এবং একটি Main Clause অর্থ্যাত্ একটি Finitive Verb থাকে তাকে Simple Sentence বলে। আর Finitive Verb হলো যে Verb tense এবং subject এর number ও person ভেদে পরিবর্তনশীল। যেমন:

i. I go to college (Subject যখন First person)     ii. He goes to college.(Subject যখন 3rd person)

iii. I am going to college.(Present Continuous)

iv. He has gone to college (Present Perfect)

v. I went to college. (Past Indefinite) 

Rules-2 : Universal truth (চিরন্তন সত্য), habitual fact (অভ্যাসগত কর্ম) বুঝালে Present Indefinite tense হয়। যেমন :

The sun (rise) in the East.

Ans: The sun rises in the East.

Rules-3 : চিরন্তন সত্য, ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনা বা অভ্যাসগত কোন ঘটনা ছাড়া Complex বা Compound Sentence এর একটি Clause যে Tense এর হয়, অপর Clause টিও সাধারণত সেই Tense এ হবে। যে Sentence এবং দুটি Verb থাকে এবং এর দুটি অংশ and, but, or দ্বারা যুক্ত হয় তাকে Compound Sentence বলে। and, but, or ছাড়া অন্যান্য Conjunction (বা Relative Pronoun) যেমন: Which, That, When, Since, If, As if ইত্যাদি দ্বারা সংযুক্ত থাকে তাকে Complex Sentence বলে। যেমন:

i. I know that he (be) honest.

Ans: I know that he is honest.

ii. He went to market and (buy) a book. Ans: He went to market and bought a book.

Rules-4 : To ছাড়া Preposition (in, on, of, with, without, ইত্যাদি) এর পর Verb এর সাথে সাধারণত ing যোগ করতে হয়। যেমন: He is fond of (smoke) Ans: He is fond of smoking কিন্তু Preposition  ব্রাকেটের Verb এর পরে থাকলে Sentence টি Passive Voice এর নিয়মে  Verb Past Participle এবং Subject এর পর Tense, Number I Person অনুযায়ী সাহায্যকারী Verb বসাতে হবে। যেমন : The box (make) of wood.

Ans: The box is made of wood.

Rules-5 : Verb “to be” ( যখন Passive Voice হয়), Verb “to have”, having, being ইত্যাদির ব্রাকেটের পর Verb Past Participle হয়। যেমন : র) English is (Speak) all over the world. Ans: English is spoken all over the world. ii) Sifat has (learn) his lesson. Ans: Sifat has learnt his lesson. iii) Having (do) the work, I left the place. Ans: Having done the work, I left the place.

Rules-6 : Just, already, recently, even, yet, now ইত্যাদি থাকলে Present Perfect Tense হয়। যেমন : i) He recently (leave) the country. Ans: He has recently left the country. ii) I just (finish) my work.

Ans: I have just finished my work.

Rules-7 : Can, could, may, might, should, would প্রভূতি Modal Auxiliary এরপর Verb Present রূপ হয়। I can (drive) car. Ans: I can drive car. উল্লেখিত Auxiliary Verb এরপর অতিরিক্ত  “be” থাকলে তখন ব্রাকেটের Verb টি Past Participle হয়। যেমন : The story should be (write).

Ans: The story should be written.

Rules-8 : Be + to এবং Have + to এরপর Verb Present রূপ হয়। যেমন : i. I am to (go) to Dhaka. Ans: I am to go to Dhaka. ii) You have to (do) the work. Ans: You have to do the work.

Rules-9 : shall/will এরপর Verb Present রূপ হয়। যেমন : He will (do) it according to my advice. Ans: He will do it according to my advice. কিন্তু shall+ be বা will+ be এরপর Sentence টি active voice এ  থাকলে তা Future Continuous  এর গঠনানুসারে Verb এর সাথে ing যোগ করতে হয়। যেমন : I shall be (to do) the work. Ans: I shall be doing the work. আবার Sentence টি passive voice এ  থাকলে Verb টি Past Participle হয়। যেমন:  The book will be (write) immediately. Ans: The book will be written immediately.
