BAJUS directs Jewellers to show tax certificates in visible place

Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) has directed the gold businessmen in the country to display their TAX certificates and other related papers in an easy visible place of their respective shops.

“The National Board of Revenue (NBR) guideline manifests the display of Business Identification Number at the visible place of shops,” read a press release of BAJUS on Saturday, reports The Daily Sun.

The law provides for penalties against those who disobey this directive.

Besides, Section 265 of the Income Tax Act, 2023 has added provision for showing proof of filing of return and penalty for failure to comply with the said provision as follows:

“A taxpayer who is required to file a return under this Act and who is deriving income from business shall display the proof of filing of the return in a place where it is easily visible at his place of business,” added the BAJUS release.

The deputy commissioner of taxes may impose a penalty in between Tk 5 thousand to 20 thousand upon violation of the law, according to the directive.

BAJUS has directed all jewelers to keep return filing in a visible place in the business place as per the government's instructions.
