At least six arson attacks were recorded in 24 hours till 6 am on Monday during the 48-hour blockade called by BNP and like-minded parties to press home their one-point demand to hold the next national polls under a neutral government, reports UNB.
Shahjahan Shikdar, deputy director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Media Cell said, a total of 10 vehicles were set on fire by miscreants during the period and one of those was set ablaze in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area under Mayor Hanif Flyover.Five buses, four trucks, and one covered van were burnt during this period, he said.
One of each vehicle was burnt in Dhaka city, Naogaon, Kishoreganj, Khagrachhari, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, and Sylhet, and three buses in Natore.
Fifteen firefighting units and 75 members of the fire service were engaged in dousing the flames in the places.
