Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Wednesday said police officers who have been absent from work will no longer be allowed to rejoin their duties.
He said, “A number of police officers involved in misconduct have not returned to their posts. Those who have not yet reported for duty will no longer be allowed to rejoin.”
Jahangir made these remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of basic training for 40th BCS (Ansar) officers and 25th batch sepoy recruits at the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Academy in Gazipur.The Home Adviser also said that those involved in any form of misconduct within the police force will not be pardoned under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, a press release issued on Tuesday by the Police Headquarters said that 187 officers remain absent from duty.
Among them are one officer of DIG rank, seven additional DIGs, two police superintendents, one additional police superintendent, five assistant superintendents, five inspectors, 14 sub-inspectors and sergeants, nine assistant sub-inspectors, seven naiks, and 136 constables.
