13.       Since/as/because : Since, as, because Complex Sentence-এ কারণ অংশের পূর্বে বসে। যেমন :

            2. He can not succeed as he is lazy.

            3. Everybody loves him because he is honest.

14. Had better : Had better- অর্থ বরং ভালো/তবুও ভালো। You had better go home now. (তোমার বরং এখন বাড়ি যাওয়াই ভালো বা উচিত) এ ধরনের Sentence-এ যদি ও had থাকে তবু এটা Past tense নয়। এটা Present বা Future অর্থ প্রকাশ করে। Had better-‰র পর Infinitive to বসে না। সর্বদা verb-এর Present form বসে। যেমন :

            1. You had better leave the place.

            2. You had better wear a coat when you go out.

15.       Would rather......... than/would sooner.....than. Would rather....than/would sooner......than এর অর্থ বরং। বরং ......তবুও জাতীয় Sentence এ এদের ব্যবহার হয়।

            1. I Would rather starve than steal.

            2. I would rather die than নবম.

16. No sooner had .......... than, Scarcely had ....... when, hardly had ........যিবহ:- এ জাতীয় Structurব দ্বারা ‘যেতে ............. না যেতে’,  ‘খেতে........... না খেতে’, ‘পৌঁছাইতে .............না পৌঁছাইতে ইত্যাদি অর্থ প্রকাশ পায়। এ ক্ষেত্রে than বা when পূর্ব পর্যন্ত Past Perfect tense এবং when বা than-‰র পরের অংশ Past Indefinite হয়।

            1. No sooner had I gone out than he came.

            2.         Scarcely had we reached the station when the train left.

            3.         Hardly had he reached the college when the examination began.

17.       As if /As though:- As if ev as though ‘যেন’ অর্থ প্রকাশ করে। As if ev As though-এর প্রথম অংশ Present Indefinite হলে পরের অংশ Past Indefinite হয়। আবার প্রথম অংশ Past tense হলে পরের অংশ Past Perfect tense হয়।

            1. He tells the matter as if he knew it.

            2. He told the matter as if he had known it.

            3. She proceeded as though I had not spoken.

            Note : কোনো কিছু হওয়া বুঝাতে Unreal Past-এর অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে as though/as if/wish-এর পরে বিত্ব বসে।
